Susan is an ANCC Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner with sub-specialty practice in pain management/addiction. She received her MSN, MEd and post graduate education as a Family Nurse Practitioner at the University of Missouri-Columbia.
She was employed by the Department of Anesthesia as a Nurse Practitioner (APRN) for 15 years at Boone Hospital Center - Columbia, Missouri for acute in-patient, out-patient and chronic pain clinic settings. She expanded her pain management clinical and administrative roles for home health and palliative care to address acute, chronic, cancer pain, SUD, OUD and related co-morbidities.
Current position: APRN - Florida Dept. of Health, Nassau County. She is a national speaker for a wide variety of disease states in the adult population, including comprehensive assessment, pharmacological and integrative approaches for acute and chronic pain. Primary author and instructor for Substance Abuse Education for male and female inmates incarcerated within the Detention Center Nassau County, FL – Nassau County Sheriff’s Office.
She is co-author of the controlled substance prescribing course required for mandatory active APRN licensure in the State of Florida. She served as President of the American Society for Pain Management Nursing and is a manuscript reviewer for “Journal of Pain Management Nursing.”
She is a published author, peer reviewer for “Prescribers’ Letter”, editorial board member and contributor for “Pain Medicine News.” Susan participates on advisory boards and committees within the healthcare industry addressing national and community issues.
