My education and experience includes neuropsychopharmacology, addiction science, and drug development and regulation. Prior positions include Clinical Pharmacology Branch Chief, National Institute on Drug Abuse. I have been developing medicines, including assessment of their abuse potential for FDA filings and Controlled Substances Act regulation since 1980 and have contributed to many approved medicines for pain, addiction, and a broad range of CNS disorders, publishing more than 500 articles, monographs and various governmental, World Health Organization and other agency reports. This includes more than 20 articles and commentaries related to kratom science and policy.
