Timothy J. Atkinson, PharmD

Timothy is currently the Associate Director of Opioid Safety for the National VA Pain Management, Opioid Safety, and Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PMOP) Office within the VA Specialty Care Program Office (SCPO). Prior to his current position, Dr. Atkinson was a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist, Pain Management and Director, PGY2 Pain Management & Palliative Care Residency Program at the VA Tennessee Valley Healthcare System. Dr. Atkinson specializes in complex and high-risk pain medication management. Dr. Atkinson started one of the first Pharmacy Led Suboxone clinics for pain/OUD, he is a subject matter expert on buprenorphine and contributes to VA guidance documents.
