As the senior research lead for the qualitative research team at QualityMetric, Dr. Laura Tesler Waldman is responsible for leading and advising on a broad range of studies aimed to better understand the patient’s experience related to conditions, their treatments, and the healthcare system. She has 25 years of experience in qualitative research, including designing studies, recruitment, conducting semi-structured interviews and focus groups, performing data analysis, and preparing reports, presentations, and manuscripts. Her work in health outcomes research has focused on the evaluation, selection, development, and validation of PRO measures for clinical trials and observational studies, and other patient-centered, health-related quality of life studies. She has conducted research in a wide range of therapeutic areas, including diabetes, gastroenterology, hemophilia, hepatology, hypoparathyroidism, migraines, obesity, oncology, and sleep disorders. She received her bachelor’s degree in cultural anthropology from UC Santa Barbara, her PhD in cultural and medical anthropology at the University of Arizona, and conducted postdoctoral research in tobacco control and health policy at UC San Francisco.
