Luisa Fernanda Gomez-Alatorre is a scientist and doctoral candidate at Rutgers University-Newark with a decade of experience in neuroscience research. She began her research career at the University of Texas at El Paso and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology with a minor in biology. Afterwards, she began her doctoral degree at the Center for Molecular and Behavioral Neuroscience. Throughout her academic career, Luisa has contributed to several research domains spanning the areas of drug addiction, motivational aspects of depression, spinal cord injury, and emotional learning and memory. Building on this foundation, she now focuses on understanding how emotional experiences affect brain function and learning strategies. Altogether, her background, education, experience, and interests have led her to strive for a career in the biopharmaceutical industry, particularly within medical affairs. Ultimately, her goal is to break into a medical science liaison position upon graduation.
